Maximum number for components for BOM

Dear All,

In standard BOM, we can input maximum of 999 components as the increment of item number is by 10.

My requirement is, we have more than 1000 components to be added to the BOM.

what is the possible way to  change the item number increment form 10 to 1.

Note : Standard BOM - 0010,0020,0030,.........9990.

Can we make it to 0001,0002,0003,0004,,,,,,...............9999.

Please do the needful.
